This page describes the current app behaviour. The policy and any age/consent flow should be reviewed for the countries and app stores where iSpeak Confidence is released.
Guest learning progress, settings, lesson requests and profile details can be stored in the browser on the device so the app can remember progress.
If you create an account, the server stores your email address, a salted password hash, account/session information and the learning progress you choose to synchronize. Passwords are not stored in plain text.
Microphone access is requested only when you start a speaking feature. When server speech transcription, AI conversation or AI voice features are used, the relevant text or audio is sent to the configured AI provider (currently Google Gemini) to provide that feature. Do not submit unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
If you request a tutor lesson, the details you enter may be emailed to iSpeak Confidence so the request can be arranged. If direct server email is unavailable, the app may open your device email application with the request prepared for you to send.
When you use iSpeak Classroom, the service may process classroom attendance, connection/signaling data, chat messages, shared lesson workspace content, lesson review data and audio/video needed to provide the class. Teachers and learners are shown a classroom notice before entering. Where classroom recording is enabled, the teacher and learner must acknowledge that notice first. Authorized iSpeak Confidence administrators may monitor classes in read-only observer mode for safeguarding, quality, dispute handling and teacher coaching, and may access retained lesson recordings for those purposes.
Classroom recordings can contain personal data, voices, images and lesson content. Production deployments should define a documented retention period, restrict replay access to authorized administrators, secure persistent storage, and provide applicable access/deletion rights. Recording and monitoring requirements vary by jurisdiction, so the production policy and consent flow must be reviewed before commercial release in each target market.
If you apply to teach, iSpeak Confidence may store the information you submit, including your name, contact details, country, timezone, languages, teaching background, education, availability, requested rate, profile photo, introduction video and qualification/certificate files. Application materials are used to review your application and, if approved, selected profile information may be displayed to learners. Qualification files are treated as private review documents and are not intended to be publicly listed.
Approved teachers may also have scheduling information and lesson-booking records stored so they can manage availability and classes. Applicants and teachers should avoid uploading unnecessary sensitive personal information.
Guest data remains on the device until browser/app storage is cleared. Signed-in users can delete their account and synchronized learning data from Profile & Settings → Account & Cloud Sync. Teacher-application records and uploaded application materials may be retained while an application is under review or while a teacher account is active, and should be deleted when no longer needed subject to legitimate operational or legal requirements. Operational backups or host-level retention, if enabled in production, must be documented before release.
If the service is offered to children, age-appropriate consent, parental controls and app-store requirements must be configured for the target market before release.
Reasonable technical controls are used, including password hashing, request limits and security headers. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
